KABARA KORTH PRASKAVICH

Kabara is a family law practitioner in Northern Virginia. She has been working as an associate attorney at Roop Xanttopoulos Babounakis, PLLC, since November 2012.

Kabara received her Bachelors degree from the University of Chicago and her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. She obtained the Georgetown Law Pro Bono certificate upon graduation for completing over 350 hours of volunteer legal services. In addition, she focused her coursework and experience on family law, which included interning with Judge Laura A. Cordero in DC Superior Court, volunteering at Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, and clerking at a Northern Virginia family law firm.

Since graduating law school, Kabara has worked on simple to complex cases including issues of custody, spousal support, child support, and equitable distribution. She is well versed in every aspect of family law including seeking a custody or psychological evaluation of a parent, proving the earning potential of a party (imputation of income), the value of an intangible asset (including a business), and tracing separate/marital property for division.

Where other attorneys may be playing checkers, Kabara plays chess. She works with clients to guide them through a global strategy benefiting her client’s primary goal. Sometimes, that means taking an aggressive or litigious approach; sometimes, that means holding off on court and making a well-timed settlement proposal. There is no uniform or one-size-fits-all approach. The most aggressive option is not always the best – sometimes it is. Kabara has the experience and concern for her clients to help them navigate their options, as well as propose and follow-through with the option that fits the overall strategy the best.

When not in the office, Kabara enjoys running (more of a quick-walk), reading, camping, and all things nerdy.
